How to use
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Sun Avoidance
Avoid exposure to sunlight. Hydroquinone and LaserAway Services may cause skin sensitivity to UVA/UVB. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, use a Broad Spectrum Sunscreen of SPF 30+ or higher daily, such as LaserAway Beauty BFF SPF 30+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Face + Body and/or BFF SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Tinted Color Corrector available on
LABeauty.com. Sun exposure can reverse skin lightening results. Reduce sun exposure to maintain results.
Additional sun protection measures include:
Uses
All LaserAway Beauty products are for external use only. Do not use on damaged or broken skin. Avoid direct contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water. Keep all products out of reach of children and pets. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
Resting Periods
When used properly, under the guidance of a physician, Hydroquinone is a safe and effective treatment for managing hyperpigmentation. To avoid adverse events associated with long-term use, 2% Hydroquinone requires a two-month resting period after 4 months of therapy allowing the skin to “take a break.” Recommend usage of Lighten Up Dark Spot Corrector Hydroquinone-Free formulated with Tranexamic Acid, Kojic Acid, Niacinamide, and Brightening Peptide Complex is strongly encouraged to maintain skin-lightening results from Hydroquinone and to help manage the recurrence or rebound of hyperpigmentation. After the break, your physician will decide if another course of Hydroquinone is appropriate for you.
Potential Side Effects
Some patients may react to ingredients, skincare products and medications. Potential side effects should decrease as your skin acclimates to the product. Side effects of Hydroquinone are generally temporary, mild, and typically subside with regular use. Please inform your physician if anticipated side effects persist for more than a few days:
If you feel you have had an adverse or severe reaction, discontinue use immediately, and consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider.
Precautions while using your topical medication
It is important to avoid products or activities that can increase irritation. Activities to avoid include:
Patients receiving in-clinic treatments at LaserAway must follow Before & After Care instructions found at https://www.laseraway.com/care/.
If you are using a product for the first time, have a history of extreme skin sensitivities, or questions, we recommend you review your treatment plan with your physician prior to using any compounded medication or starting any new treatment.
Drug Allergies
Ingredients in your compounded medications may cause an allergic reaction. Review all known allergies with your physician prior to use. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in your product or compounded medication, discontinue use immediately.
Pregnancy
Hydroquinone has not been evaluated for use on patients who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Our physicians will evaluate your medical condition to determine the recommended treatment plan for your skin condition. Any questions you may have regarding treatment, or changes to your medical history should be evaluated by your medical provider and/or physician by logging into your
LABeauty.com account. Discontinue use of your compounded medication until you have reviewed any changes in your medical history. Hydroquinone cannot be used if you are pregnant or nursing.
Medical History
LaserAway strongly recommends sharing your treatment plan with your primary healthcare provider. Always update your primary healthcare provider on any medications, changes to your medical history and conditions.

What is the difference between Lighten Up 2% Hydroquinone in the black tube I purchased at LaserAway clinics/online previously and the new Lighten Up 2% Hydroquinone white bottle on LABeauty.com?
In September 2020, The Food and Drug Administration changed the regulatory status for Hydroquinone. Hydroquinone has been classified as a drug, and now requires a prescription from a medical physician.
All LaserAway Beauty products are developed with the exact care that you would expect from a physician because our commitment to skin health is our highest priority. Although our formula has changed to meet state pharmacy board requirements, LaserAway Beauty Lighten Up Dark Spot corrector still contains the same Active Ingredient, 2% Hydroquinone, and is now freshly compounded to ensure potency.
